Fireboat Funday 2008!
Well to all those who didn't come due to weather forecasts - shame on you! It was excellent weather, no rain and sunny most of the day!
"Fireboat 77 not only used 2.4 ghz, but also a brushless motor and LiPo battery. The performance was outstanding, and virtually silent - accept for the sound effects from an MP3 player."
Thanks Barrie for the comments above, but I will remain modest Grin anyone who is debating on whether to get a brushless motor or not my advice would be to go for it! You don't need LiPo batteries of course but to keep the weight down it might be advisable.

Hi Everyone, from myself and all at Burton Model Boat club may I express my sincere thanks to all who made the effort to come.
I appreciate the fact that many travel a long way to be with us, yes I fully understand the weather situation put a lot of people off, sadly? the met forecast got it absolutely right and those that took the chance were blessed with a fine dry day and had a great time chatting to old and new friends, my mate Lyle in Oz had his prayer mat out for us, Thanks mate, so far away but thinking of us all, your prayer and thoughts did us proud.
Congratulations to Roger, Stephen, Peter for your valiant efforts in taking the trophies in the steering comp, it was fabulous to meet some old and new friends, a special thank you to Stephen for this terrific site, keep it going without you many people would lose interest in the old models.
So finally it looks like I may have to give in to your wishes and turn this into an annual event, if we keep to the format of a Fireboat Funday then no problems.
Take good care all of you. we look forward to the pleasure of your company yet again in 09, watch this space!
